After nine and a half years Active-Duty in the U.S. Army, numerous deployments, and several close-calls, I’ve hung up my hat. As of yesterday, I am officially on terminal leave. I’ve served with the very best men that U.S. Special Operations has to offer, and will always be proud to have served.
I say thank you America for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I’m a little saddened that my brothers will get to continue the fight without me, but there comes a time when you know that it’s right to move on.
So now I will better myself with a degree in Nutrition, be a better husband, and next month, be the best father that I can.
Congrats and THANK YOU! I did 11 years before I got out. Watch out for the guilt. When I got out, it hit me really, really hard. Just remember, your country needed you and you answered the call. Now give that same level of service to your family and remember – you deserve it! God bless indeed.
Thank you for keeping the bad guys on the run. I’m sure you have some great stories and the LR will be a better place if you share some of them when the time is right.

Very true. Every single one of my buddies who got out had a tough time with that. We all ended up re-joining in some capacity. Make your choices in a clear frame of mind, and not a paroxysm of guilt. Done the right way, for the right reasons, coming back filled that hole we all experienced.

Isnt there more money in flying commercial helicopters, or did you do something slightly different?

The good news is you won’t be getting sent places where people shoot at you anymore. The bad news is that you don’t get to shoot back anymore either…
Seriously though, very few people really understand how tough and bittersweet that decision can be.
Thanks for your service, and welcome to the “outside”. You’ll find that the skills, work ethic, and sense of personal responsibility that served you so well for the past 10 years will place you head and shoulders above most of your contemporaries.
Welcome home brother! I hope you find an easy transition to life outside the military. You (and all our brothers & sisters) deserve every good thing in life that can come their way. Best of luck and the sincerest wishes of health and prosperity to you and your family!
Make sure you take full advantage of your Veterans benefits. You might be surprised how some seemingly minor medical things can qualify you for partial disability, and how many other benefits you’re entitled to collect.
Thanks for your service and good luck. You got out right before the 10 year mark. Trust me, after you get halfway to retirement, it’s much more difficult to pull chocks.
Thank you brother!!Surround yourself with the ones you love and all will be fine.
Take full advantage of VA programs out there,Education,VA home loans, health etc.I got out long ago and used the old G.I. bill for school and got my home through VA home loan.I also use the VA health care, good people they do care.
Look at www.va.gov and I also look at www.military.com for benifit and news updates.
I think its us that owe you the thank you. Not many people would do what you did and even fewer could. We are all very lucky for men willing to serve the country as you have. Welcome home, congratulations, and enjoy your family.
Good luck with your new career and please remember, you are a big part of why we are free.
