As I got ready for bed tonight I realized that I owe all of you a big Thank You.
Tonight marks one week from my first big event the Boulder Peak Tri, and as I brushed my teeth and looked in the mirror I realized that I have never looked better in my life. Above that, I feel that I am very ready to compete in an event that only 17 weeks ago would have surely killed me. I am a far cry from the “fat, disgusting, pitiful slob” - (Slow Twitch Beginners Training Guide) that I looked and felt like those short weeks ago. This lifestyle change has not come easy for me, and I still hate to get up in the morning to do anything, but through it all, YOU have been there to help me along.
So without further adiu, I would lke to thank you the 'Twitchers for the following:
(top ten Late Night style)
-
For showing me the path.
-
For giving a Newbie advice while keeping the laughing to a minimum (at least while I was looking).
-
For posting after a few too many cocktails and showing me that you do not have to be a nutrition crazed granola crunchy all of the time.
-
For great slogans like “Shaved and Tapered”, “Food Sluts”, “Sorry ladies I’m married”, and “Too much dude too little bike”
-
For proving that some real men do shave their legs, although I have no idea why that makes me feel good about myself since I currently don’t.
-
For introducing me to a new relm of toys to covet and save my pennies for.
-
For your “Dirty Little Secrets”. I have many, and I am glad to see that you all do too.
-
For being serious, funny, off topic and off color. You all keep it very interesting around these parts.
-
For proving that you do not have to be a paid athlete to be a serious competitor, and that not all pros are on drugs or about the money.
-
For proving over and over again that going the distance is inside all of us so long as we have the heart, no matter what the distance might be that day.
And on a personal note I would like to thank my wife for her support, my buddy Stewartj76 for giving me an excuse to get off the couch, my dog Oberon for running with me, Tibbs for showing that you can still be a hell of a guy even if you are a little screwed up, Record10 (and all of his supporters) for TSR which makes me want to do good for someone everyday, and most of all to the US Armed Forces who make our everyday lives possible.
Sorry if it is a little sappy there at the end.
Peter
