Thoughts?

I’m stunned. I can’t believe the parents are so laid back about it. I thought the court system in the U.S. was lenient…

“Thoughts?”

About a year ago or so in Oz was there not a triathlete killed while riding by a female driver with a history of drug/alcohol abuse who also had prior driving convictions? What ever happened on that case?

In this other case the parents are more forgiving than I likely could ever be. But maybe that says a lot about them. A tragic unfortunate accident. This young woman will carry this with her for the rest of her life.

Yes, the guy that was killed was a pro triathlete by the name of Luke Harrop, brother of former world champ Loretta. I believe that woman did receive a prison setence of about 4 years, however there was a number of other charges there as well such as stealing the vehicle she hit him with.

On this current case. no matter what the remorse by the driver or her excellent character, she broke the law and a man died. For this she effectively received a 2 year driving ban.

As someone else said on thread ’ she has to live with it’, at least SHE gets to LIVE with it. I would rather be in her shoes than his!!!

The forgiving attitude of his parents is amazing, they must truly be remarkable people.

These stories always get my back up as they are too close to home and it makes you think it could be someone you know one day.

The father of the driver stating his daughter deserved to get on with her life…although I understand somewhat the difficulty of accepting the import of what happened I think she recieved a great deal of grace. If realized and accepted this may allow her to live more fully. Claiming she deserved the graciousness of the courts and the parents of the victim would lesson her opportunity to move on and make a contribution. A hard story, any one of us having a moment of bad judgement could have made a similar mistake.

In a related story Heather French Henry, ex Miss America and wife of KY’s Lt Governor, had her first interview after the accident killing a cyclist. No charges were filed. HFH is obviousley grief-stricken over what happened. She will carry the scars a long time. No word on the family-friends of the cyclist.

The father of the driver stating his daughter deserved to get on with her life…

FYI, it was the father of the victim that said that.
