Was at a bike shop tonight for a DIVA NIGHT, and my buddy from shimano had the electronic DI-2 shifting. Very nice, way cool. Everyone needs to demo it, bike was on a trainer and it was fun 2 minutes to get a feel for it. Not sure if I need it, but would be cool to have it. Battery pack is rechargeable, not AA’s. I was amazed at the response time and the accurate moves of the front der. Hopefully you all can test ride one, even on indoor trainer
I tried the tri setup (shift buttons on Pro aerobars) at the Shimano booth at AToC. Really nice shifting, esp. under load. The only beef I have is the >$3K they want for the shifters/deraiieurs/battery pack (it was only $1500 to add electric shifting to my Benz!)…waiting for this to filter down to Ultegra.
They had an S3 with the DI2 on it at Colorado Cyclist this weekend and they offered me a test ride but I was too scared I’d lay it down without bike shoes!
De Ja Vu all over again…this is what we all said, oh…15 years ago with the Mavic ZMS “Zap” system. Then we all sat there wondering what we gained. More so when the batteries died.
