after diamondman last weekend… felt fine. took monday off and went for an easy bike ride (about 30 miles at an easy pace) on tuesday. half way into the bike ride my foot started to hurt. by the end of the ride… it hurt a lot. so, i iced it and went for a swim later that night. it hurt just swimming. so, i took wednesday - saturday off.
my foot was feeling much better so i did the philly distance run today (as a training run - i left my racing flats at home). (great run - i highly recommend it) the bad news is my foot hurt from about mile 4 on. the good news is the rest of me felt fine and i somehow (without trying to push it) managed to drop my time 3 minutes from last year.
however, there was more bad news. i got done the race and started walking around and my foot was absolutely killing me. went to the med tent and asked them to look at it. i have this pins and needle / numbness feeling shooting from the bottom of my shin down my foot to my big toe. the medic dude tells me i have tendonitis and i shouldn’t be on it at all. ice it and stay off.
now… i’m not sure what to do. i’m a little over 6 weeks out from IMF and i’m told not to do anything. i’m supposed to do a 20 mile run this coming weekend. and AT LEAST one more century ride.
and… it hurts just walking. this sucks.
p.s. - i had pizza and beer last night and (with the exception of my foot) i felt great during the run. i guess i found what works for me!
