It’s Phil Anselmo’s post Pantera band. They’re no Pantera but still pretty good.
My employee used to be in the music biz (tour manger for Papa Roach and Slaves on Dope) and at the show where Darrell was killed.
Is that the stars and bars on his guitar?
Down made some really good music through the 90s, though I’ll admit I haven’t heard much of them since then. I was also a big fan of CoC at the time, so it was a pretty good blend of sounds for me, personally.
Down has 2007, 2012 and 2014 releases.
Down is some good shit - very sludgy and soulful. Quite a different vibe from Pantera, and Phil’s involvement with Down contributed a lot to the tension that pretty much destroyed Pantera. Down have been releasing a series of EPs more recently. Some good stuff, but nothing that especially stands out, either. I need to give them another spin.
I miss Dimebag. His guitar tone and work on Far Beyond Driven is still as exciting as it was when I first heard it. There aren’t too many albums that I can remember the moment when I first heard it, but that is one.
On a related note, it has also been 34 years since Lennon died.
I saw CoC open For Megadeth. One song was ok, the rest was just really, really loud.
Megadeth was pretty good. I want really a fan until that show.
