Tempe Pools?

Anybody down there advise on pools? I’d prefer not to swim in Town Lake based on the reports posted here (clarity etc.) I’ll be staying within a mile or so of the expo (i think on broadway OR apache) and will have a car.

Thanks in advance!

drive to Scottsdale and swim at Cactus Park.

nice outdoor pool.

15’ from tempe or just around the corner if you ask desert_dude

I believe you can pay a day fee at the ASU rec center and swim there.

Dave,

Check out the Student Rec center @ ASU it’s on Apache (1/2 from expo area). I think you can get a day pass for $7. On the Town Lake issue, I’ve swam twice in the past month, and it is what it is. PS - The lake is not open for general swimming, so you’ll want to take advantage of the Gatorade swim times offered…

ASU Rec Site: http://www.asu.edu/src/

Do you not think they will open the lake to swimming outside of the gatorade times?

Seems crazy that in the few days leading up to the race - we will be forced to swim in a pool doesn’t it???

I wouldn’t bet on it…remember this is a man-made lake with rubber dams @ each end and concrete walls on each side. You can’t exacly get in and out of the lake easily…

Thanks guys … looks like plenty of options. The ASU site looks close and convenient … there was not a schedule available for “open times” to swim. (that part of the site was down) Any thoughts what they might be?

Cheers!

There’s a nice indoor pool at the 25hr fitness too. I think it’s on broadway?

You can swim with the Sun Devils Masters program at either the ASU Student Center or the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. I’m planning on swimming with them, while I’m down in Tempe.

Flying out tonight and waking up bright and early to swim in the 50m outdoor pool

Sun Devil Masters is only $5, but you have you have a USMS card. Workouts are M-F, 6:00AM-7:00AM at the SRC, 12:10PM-1:10PM at the Mona Plummer Pool, and 6:00PM-7:00PM at the Mona Plummer Pool. Go to www.sundevilmasters.org for all the info.
