I’m flying into Reno Wednesday on a business trip. I should have a few (3-5) hours of daylight Wednesday afternoon and thursday afternoon.
I was thinking of renting a mtn bike and hitting the flume trail, since I haven’t done it since college. But, I’ll be alone, no gear and time constrained.
So now I’m leaning more towards a short, scenic trail run. Staying in South LT, Wednesday night.
Appreciate any dining/entertainment tips as well.
Thanks in advance.
Lone Eagle Grille in Incline village. $$$$, but beautiful vistas and great food.
Also, for lunch there is a little Sri Lankan deli near by. Cheap and some good fare.
When my friends and I graduated from high school we bought a Toyota Landcruiser and drove non-stop from Detroit to California for the OP Pro Surfing Classic in Huntington Beach, California.
On the epic, post high school pilgramage to the surf-mecca we stopped in Lake Tahoe for breakfast during the “space flight” endurance drive across the U.S. We found a wonderful pancake restaurant with a nice lady who called us “Hun” and we had the best breakfast I believe I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t remember the lake- just the pancakes. It was a log cabin place. If you go in there and the waitress calls you “hun” and the pancakes are awesome- you found it. By now, of course, the lady at the counter will probably be our waitresse’s daughter…
You actually bought a Toyota Land Cruiser in Detroit in the 80’s? Wow - rebels you were
Oh, to the OP - I have nothing to add. Only been to Tahoe twice, skiing and snowmobile riding only in the winter.

head south on the PCT from the parking area on Echo Summit.
It’s awesome. I live in Reno. If you had the time you could go to north star, they rent mt bikes and have courses.
I would just run along the lake. Cant go wrong with that. Maybe one day lake run one day flume trail run.

I biked the flume trail as part of my “Epic” summer trip in college. Me and 3 other guys in the Chevy Astro Van I bought from my Dad. Plus 4 mtn bikes, climbing gear, and camping gear. We hit all the Nat’l Parks on a big loop from Western NY. After a month, we ended with a non-stop from RMNP home.
Thanks for the tips so far. Maybe the (not)working crowd will chime in.
absolutely love LT- can’t help for mtn biking but for breakfast in south lake, head to Red Hut!
I love Sprouts for lunch (bring cash, they don’t take plastic).
Right next door is Rude Brother Bagels, which is great bagels and coffee.
I was just up there with my wife and we ran the Emerald Bay Trail Run. Beautiful run around Emerald Bay and with a really cool section amongst the granite in DL Bliss State Park. The course is mostly along the Rubicon Trail. Highly recommended.
