I’m thinking about Lake Stevens 70.3… anybody with experience with the course… how hilly, weather conditions… etc.
3600’ of climbing on the bike… Plenty of fast descents as well. The swim is cool because you basically have a lane line the whole time. The water isn’t the cleanest but compared to much of the country it would be like swimming in heaven. The run is a double figure 8 so plenty of spectator potential. The run is mostly flat with some gradual hills (2 per loop, 4 total). It is a fun course but far from fast.
Also they moved it to August so the weather should be fine but it also could impact water quality.

I saw July something… that could affect timing… I must have been on the old site,
The race is August 17, 2014.
Did it last year and really enjoyed it. The community is great with a good number local residents cheering you on throughout the run course. Agreed with the swim, it’s like one big lane which is nice. The road course is hilly so practice those hills. Part of the run lines the lake which makes for a nice view. Overall it was a good experience.
Good race. I might do it again this year. One thing that stood out to me were the number of descents with blind turns that ended at T intersections. I didn’t preview the course so I as a little leery of going too fast. There is one steep section that everyone talks about but it’s really short and no big deal.
