Technical Question

Trying to use TUFO tubular glue strips (vs. messy tubular cement in tube)–instructions are on the inside of the box–when opening the box, of course it tears the instructions—anyone know how to use these things?

thanks

BUMP - help
.

Tufo Extreme Tape - One side is covered with a “yellowish” paper. Apply the strip starting at the valve hole, peeling away the “yellowish” strip as you go. I streach the tape as I go to keep it tight. Put the tire on BEFORE you expose the cover paper. Leave just a small piece of the cover paper pulled away from the rim when you put the tire on, this allows you to easily pull the cover paper from under the tire and expose the sticky glue to the tire. Get it?? Now…semi inflate, 20lbs or so, center the tire and then inflate to max. When you ride the wheel, it activates the tape and it ain’t coming off.

When you flat…remove your tire, the top layer of glue is coming off with the tire. THATS GOOD. There’s now a clear peice you remove before mounting the spare, this exposes ANOTHER light glue on the rim for the spare. its enough to get you home!!!

Apply strip to CLEAN and DRY rim. Leave 1/2 inch or so on opposite side of wheel to make it “easier” to pull a flat off. Cut off extra.

Slightly wet (spray bottle works well) with water while applying tubular. Make SURE it’s aligned properly. Inflate to 25 psi, RE-align. Re-align some more…

Inflate to 160 psi as you’ll need to with Tufos (wink/wink). Ride.

However…I don’t recommend the glue strips and would highly recommend you glue. It’s easier if done properly.

use scissors to open the box ?

Step 1: raise lid on garbage can.
Step 2: throw TUFO glue strips in can.
Step 3: buy clinchers and Michelin Pro Race 2 tires.

a good alternate step 3 is: buy vittoria mastik

Having just spend all freaking weekend cleaning that crap off a set of wheels I bough, I agree. Glue strips and fasttack are products of the clincher industry to promote the use of clinchers. Get some mastik or Conti glue…
