Technical Fabrics - How One Saved The Day

Following up on last week’s thread on tech fabrics, I’m here to say a good fleece can be invaluable in ways you’d never figure.

Long story short, at 00:55 11/12 my wife gave birth to our second child in the front seat of the car, on the way to the hospital. The quickest thing I could think of to wrap our new daugher in was the fleece jacket I was wearing. Baby girl stayed nice and warm into the L&D room, and one washing later the fleece is as good as new.

So, wear your tech fabrics, you never know when you’ll need them!

(I’m not as dedicated to the forum as Demerly, I wasn’t able to get a shot of our daughter in the fleece on the way. Busy driving and all that!)

Congrats on the new addition. Quick thinking with that fleece!

That is cool as hell!!! And you were the only one there to help your wife??? If so, I think YOU saved the day!

PS - your wife must be quite a stud to go without pain meds! You are one hard-core, beautiful family! Congrats!

That is simply awesome! Congrats to you and your wife… and the little tyke.

The fleece washed out, how about the car seat?

That’s soo cool!! If fleece is still in when she’s grown up, how cool would it be as a gift to her.

Congrats, now whenever you wear that jacket you can think of that night. Must have been a short labor, perhaps a future triathlete practicing her transition time.

Great job! Congratulations to your family.

Wow, amazing. In the front seat of all places. Did you deliver your daughter. Either way, thats awesome. I’m a doctor and I still get chills with the idea of delivering my kid in the car. Luckily, my wife and I got to the hospital last month in time for our new son. Congrats.

Congratulations! Everyone looks great in the pic. Don’t ever loose that jacket. Maybe frame it or make a blanket for your little girl.

Awesome. I hope you named her “Patagonia”.

Mike.

Nice job Tim; congrats to you and your wife. I hope all is well with the new one and make sure the older one gets lots of love during all the fuss.

Almost had a front seat delivery for our first but I decided to take driving risks instead to make it to the hospital. Our daughter was out in the world ten minutes after shutting off the engine. Close one.

Great pic of a beautiful mommy and baby. You just look goofy;-)

Tim- Congratulations on your beautiful daughter’s safe arrrival. I agree, you were the one who saved the day. What a great story to tell the little one when she’s older. Everyone looks so happy, and healthy, in the picture. Thanks for sharing.

Holy smokes!! Well done, your wife is a stud and you are clearly a pretty cool customer yourself.

Nice family

Wow, that IS an amazing story!

Awesome! Very cool. Congrats to you and your family.

Uh, how is your car interior now? Are you trying to sell it or just rip out the seat and get a new one?

Joking aside, congrats on the baby. That is quite a story and I’m glad that it turned out well. The fleece was saved!

Amazing story, congrats! make sure you charge your insuance company for your services and for that fleece

I second the motion to save it as a gift for her later in life. I’m saving the doctors scrub top given to me during birth of my daughter. It’s label with “The Newborn Inn”. It’ll be a gift for her upon the birth of her first child…
