Got a vertical line going down a laptop (not mine, someone else’s), along with a distinct shading for about 3/5’s of the screen. The line is approximately in the middle of the shading.
Besides the monitor being f’d, it seems like it could also be a loose monitor connector, anything else? If it is the connector is their a way for me to fix or test this?
Is it a 17" Apple or Dell? If it’s an Apple, you’re screwed. Dell will fix it, no problem.
A not new, and not under warranty Toshiba.
I updated the driver for the video card, but that didn’t fix it. I’m assuming it’s a bonked connector.
is it possible to cheaply buy a replacement monitor? what do you estimate is the value of the laptop?
i used to have a horizontal line on my apple powerbook monitor. just one line, though, the rest of the screen was fine (no ‘shading’). it was get used to it, or by a new one. i got used to it. then other things started breaking.
