Tech ? Going 9 sp to 10 sp

Hey Techies,

I have a soloist that was all 9 speed and then one shifter stopped working, so I went out and bought brand new 10sp shifters and am currently running 9sp fd and rd.

So I have went out and bought a 10sp fd; what else do I need to do to run 10sp? Someone told me I don’t really need a rd but I call probable BS…so do I have to buy everything or not?

You need a 10 speed RD all right. You don’t need a “10-speed FD”–no such thing. You will need a 10 speed cassette too, and a 10 speed chain.

No need for derailleurs. All you need is a 10 speed chain, cassette, and chainrings at this point. You might need to adjust the limit screws on your rear derailleur when you set it all up.
