My work just gave me a blackberry (curve) and told me that I could use it as my personal phone. My old phone (and my wife’s and most of the people I know) are all on Verizon. Calls are fine, but I can’t get SMS (text) messages to go through between my AT&T phone and any verizon phone. I’ve only had one manage to get through, and it took it an hour or so.
Anyone know if this is just a quirk because it’s going between different networks? Is it an issue with the encoding or the transmission protocall…maybe something that can be altered or tweaked?

It’s not an issue with the transmission protocol. It might be a quirk because it’s going between different networks, but only in that it means one of the networks is screwed up.
It shouldn’t be an issue- if there is, it’s probably localized to either Verizon’s network or AT&t’s, but only in vortmax’s city. The problem might be short or long term, steady or intermittent.
