So Saturday morning I go to my kids soccer game. After the game (my son kinda kicked the ball twice and only missed 9 plays do to the fact he really didn’t want to run. He just loves the team and all his bros on it.) After the game me and my son’s assistant coach went to my van where as the founder of Team Secondhand Racing I presented him with a Nishiki, vintage unknown. He is going to school full time and not working. His wife makes enough to keep the family in shelter, food, gas and education but there isn’t room for much else. Sense starting school he has been getting a little soft.
He talked to me about triathlons but said it would have to wait till after he graduated and payed off the student loans. So I went to work. My wife’s boss’s husband got into road riding about a decade or so ago and rode for three weeks. He put the bike in the garage and there it stayed. Unmoved. Unloved. The offer to get his 1955 Chevy show ready was payment for the bike to be taken to my LBS. New cables, bar tape, tires and a little lube and the mechanic said he would ride it himself. So for a few days in a garage doing $400 worth of work gets a new triathlete enters the waters.
Lady at my sister’s church wants to run a marathon. Lady next door to me used to run a little bit and had to have all the best gear. Gear sat in a trash bag in her closet for a while. Church girl + nieghbor + $30 exchanging hands= New marathoner.
The ladies my wife works with have decorate painters hats with the words TSR MAN EATERS. Doing a charity walk in a few weeks.
TSR uniforms are ready! Get intouch with hid to get yours.
hid had fronted a TSR hat on the run at Ralph’s.
I am happy and slowly getting in some kind of shape I think.
Yep Teamsecondhand Racing. A can of worms you don’t want to open.
Oh yeah about the thread title, just wanted to get the haters to read this.
