Team CSC documentary

I’m not sure if this was previously posted, but a documentary being released on Team CSC looks pretty cool: http://tomasgislason.com/page.php?id=1&mid=43&video=1
.

That looks fantastic. There’s some pretty gruesome shots in there of the guy’s ribcage, and Sastre getting his neck cracked. Can’t wait to see it!

Where’s Tyler?

The funniest part of the trailer was the dude trying to swim…don’t let him anywhere near a triathlon…

Here’s the bummer. It’s all in Danish. A friend of mine is out there on a project for Dansk Bank. I emailed him the link a couple weeks back and he replied w/the dilemma of not knowing Danish.

There’s English subtitles at the trailer. And the moive is a mix of English, Italian and Danish.

There’s another trailer here with some different clips an but this triler is with Danish subtitles:

Anyway, a similar topic has already been started earlier here: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=415144

I agree, Ivan Basso will probably never become a triathlon star.

The funniest part of the trailer was the dude trying to swim…don’t let him anywhere near a triathlon…

We asked them to put that in so that next time there is a thread about Basso’s time trialing and somebody says “Yeah, but can he swim?”, we now have the answer.

As a side note, there is a pretty funny conversation between B.S. (the Danish special forces legend who puts the team building exercises together for Team CSC) and Ivan thatI don’t think can be heard in the doc. It’s from B.S.’ book (only available in Danish).

B.S. tells Basso “Get in the water”

Basso replies “But I cannot swim”

B.S., in his most concerned voice “Oh, I’m sorry, did I ask you if you could swim”

Basso “No”

B.S. “THEN GET IN THE WATER!!!”

is it coming to the US?

Here’s B.S. Christiansen’s website some of it in English: http://www.bschristiansen.dk/idd40.asp
There’s some pictures from CSC’s boot camp too.

The name of his book in Danish is “Et Liv På Kanten” (A Life On The Edge). The book is the best selling book in Denmark the last year, but even though B.S. is now the author of a bestseller, he never reads any books himself and never hs done. The book is so far sold in over 130,000 copies in a country with a poupulation of about 5.5 million people. Quite impressive when the avarge copies sold of a published book in Denmark is only 1,000.

He became a famous person in Denmark, when Danish televsion showed a tv program about him and another Danish elite soldier going to the Ranger school in USA as the first Danes ever. The other Dane with him was honored as the best Ranger that year. In the TV program they went back to visit the Ranger school and told about life as an elite solider earlier.

Once B.S. met Bjarne Riis by coincidence at the Danish holiday resort La Santa Sport on the Spanish island Lanzarote; you have probably heard of the place from triathlons. That’s where they got talking and the idea came up for B.S. to be involved in team building of Team CSC, he also acts as a mental coach during TdF and follows the team in some other races too. Much of the the movie “Overcoming” is filmed at La Santa Sport and Lanzarote where CSC held their boot camp for the 2004 season. I beleive the clip of the guy trying to lern Basso to swim is from La Santa Sport’s swiming pool.

B.S. is also famous in Denmark for some series of tv programs where he travels to outskirts like the Canadian wilderness, Amazon jungle, Tasmania etc. with a female tv host and teach her how to survive on her own in the wild nature.

B.S. is quite the character. This was his first book ever, and so he asked his publisher how many he was going to print. Thepublisher said that for a first-time author, 2,000 copies would be on the high side. So B.S. asks what the max is that has ever been done in Denmark for a first run, which turns out to be 25,000. So B.S. says he wants to print 26,000. But the publisher says that that was for Bill Clinton’s book, and he is no clinton. But B.S. insists on a first run of 26,000, personally guarantees they will sell and within a week they’re all gone.

The book is quite interesting (although pretty tough if your Danish is as bad as mine) though it’s better still to talk to the man himself. He’s a very engaging and caring person, despite his military facade.
