TdG - Sounds pretty grim today

“Excuse the delay. Things have gone from bad to worse out on the course. The rain is really bad now and riders can hardly see in front of them. All media cars and unneccesary cars have been sent up the road out of the way.”

Yuck. Nothing like slogging through what could otherwise be a great stage.

Edit: It’s getting better, “There is more lightening now and the wind is really blowing and there is even hail coming down now.”

Is there any live coverage on the net or just the cycling news updates?

Both Cyclingnews.com and Velonews.com have live coverage…I still can’t believe OLN missed the boat on this one.

Wow, sounds like Discovery’s putting the hurt on everybody today - lots of riders dropping out, and still more won’t likely make the time cut-off. Rubiera is a stud.

My guess will be that due the bad weather, they will extend the time cut so just about everyone who finishes the race today will get to go at tomorrow’s stage. I don’t think they will want half of the field to be missing.

You might be right, but it sounds like the weather has eased up.

Oh man, I should’ve called my shot ahead of time…I knew they’d send McCartney next…and Acevedo too! Discovery’s going for it - let’s see if Phonak can answer. Danielson and Armstrong will be next if they can’t bring them back.

Okay, if you guys/gals aren’t paying attention to this, you should be. Discovery and CSC have isolated Landis on the last climb. Pretty much all of Discovery’s intact - we’ll see if they can get back any of that time they lost yesterday.

This stage has made one thing very clear - there is a huge gap between Div 1/Pro Tour Teams and the Continental Div 2 & 3 teams.

I don’t think any real time will be put into Landis today. Anybody know what the time bonuses for the stage are?

Great stage though. I can’t wait to watch it.

5K to go and Landis is off the back! Shouldn’t lose too much time, but he’ll lose some.

Vandborg (CSC) wins, followed by Rubiera, Pinotti 3rd, MacCartney 4th, and then it say “the bunch” - not sure who was in the bunch, though. Great stage, tomorrow should be awesome.

Great freakin’ stage! I feel bad for Rubiera, but the KOM shirt is some consolation for his efforts. My guess is Floyd lost ~20secs since it was under the kite (according to CN), but we’ll see when the stats are posted. Don’t forget, Phonak came with a mixed team of sprinters and a few guys to help Floyd, but only started 6 or 7 men and then lost one in the TT yesterday - tough day for the grasshoppers.

Tomorrow’s climb is going to seriously kick butt.

Floyd made it back to the bunch (which makes me wonder if he was ever dropped in the first place). He keeps the jersey and doesn’t lose any significant time. Good job Floyd!! Velonews made it sound like Saunier Duval was helping Landis - wonder what that cost??
