Is Zabriskie out?

I believe it means he was outside of the time allowed. Maybe beyond delay?? He was too slow.

Yeap, finished outside the time limit. So no Dave Z in the TT on Saturday, major bummer.

Dave in VA

Wow, how the heck did that happen?

They didn’t say anything on the broadcast about him that I heard. Maybe he got sick or suffered an other than cycling injury? Too bad.

In the Zabriskie Diaries on VeloNews he mentioned a bad case of tendonitis in his knee, and not making it to Paris…maybe that played a part somehow?

Is Zabriskie out?
It’s French for SOL.

Ok, now I’ve got my picks for the next stage, Zabriske, Rogers, and Friere.

HA! You might want to consider Robbie Mc too.

delais is pronounced “delay” but is what I would call a faux ami (false friend). These words that are either derived from the same latin word or in this case, just sound similar, yet over time have developed different usages in both languages. The French delais means either delivery date or deadline depending on the context. In this case, deadline would be the most appropriate translation.

Hors (pronounced Whore) means “beyond” , “out of” or in some cases “except”

Hors delais = over the deadline or as has been posted “SOL”
Hors categorie = uncategorised (with the implication that the climb is above and beyond the classification scale.

That completes the lesson for today. I’ll be asking questions on this tomorrow, os hope you paid atttention.

Isn’t Hors pronounced “oar” not “whore?”
