TdF jersey question

I saw a mostly solid white jersey with a multicolored stripe in one of the stages, but I haven’t noticed it the last couple. Am I just overlooking it? What team?

You may have seen the German road champion, I think it is Fabian Wegmann from Gerolsteiner.

Probably you saw that jersey during the prologue, Cancellara was wearing it because he’s the World TT Champion and gets to wear it only for TT’s.

The World Road Champion gets to wear that jersey in normal stages. However, the reigning champion, Paolo Bettini, is not racing the TdF.

sounds like a champion’s jersey.

world champ gets a white jersey with the rainbow across the chest.

national champs get the national colors (may be white with the colors, or simply the colors on the jersey - depends on the country).

road champs can wear these jerseys in the road stages. TT champs get to wear theirs during the TT stages.

yes, I think you are correct. Upon reflection it seems that the stripes were yellow, black and red. That would be Germany, right?

Your question got my curiosity, I saw it as well and thought at first it was the best young rider then I saw the stripes. I checked the Gerolsteiner website and he is listed was the German national champ.

Here is a pic of the World Championship jersey.
A rider can only wear it in the event the won it in (TT, Road etc.)

I suppose Slowtwitch will dub me a poseur for wearing one, but I don’t think much anyone in my area will know enough about cycling to realize it. Please don’t tell anyone on slowtwitch my secret.

always questionable when a bloke chooses to wear rainbow-adorned attire…not that theres anything wrong with that
