Yeah, not only extremely competent but honestly never heard a bad thing about him as a person so I wouldn’t take anything other than expert opinion.

Guys, if you want to bring traffic to the main site, maybe don’t post the whole thing here?

We don’t mind doing the work :sunglasses:

Are you really bending out of shape regarding our Shiv TT geometry discussion and criticism? Only because… this is PF’s frame? They have you guys on a tight leash.

It is so easy to not pick one photo and pick out issues whether swim bike or run .

The timing of these photos really matter but

Her hip angle seems to be more due to her low elbow placement than seat to crank and forward position.

Also the mention of her heel drop is not a bike position error it would happen on any setup and maybe also explains all those issues she has had with lower leg injuries, hope she figures that out right there and then she has a shit load more power.

If I was Paula would lift the front up more.

I think too many are stuck in thinking let’s lower cda but shrinking but you lose so much power and comfort over time.

It’s like a badge of honour to say a got 40 km per hour on 220 watts vs 240 .

But 220 left your back and hamstrings wrecked for the run. And 240 in a good power fit can have less impact on your cardiovascular system then 220 in a tight in powerful position.

Simular bike , need those elbows up more.

Guy has so much power and speed for a smaller rider.

Question
Lisa Becharas : her elbows seem well ahead of the back of the pads and look at the way she grips.
Is this OK ?
Normal ?
Any insight

She looks a bit better in the pic on her insta
Noteworthy that she says ‘Next year I’ll make sure I get a bike fit !’

Her power numbers suggest she is is a lot slipperier than I would have thought.

I know another athlete that does that with her wrists so was always curious.

Exactly, this is not about PF herself. Her sponsor does not make a Tri bike. They’ve chosen her for her social reach I assume and then given her a bike that was designed for TTs with no effort to have a range of adjustment at the top of the post.

I had this very discussion with a female pro the day after their race (not on the list above but wants to be and should be). Has been given a Shiv TT frame and I had to warn that it’s going to take her backwards.

I wonder if her UCI riding in Worlds and Canadian TTs have an impact on her position. I have seen several riders, with UCI reach limitations that end up scooting their saddle further than they would like to. Maybe she chose a “compromise” between her UCI racing and pure tri ? Maybe she figures it’s better to focus on 1 position rather than split her time ?

Shiv TT and Shiv Tri are roughly the same generation, although the Tri has been discontinued. Paula has had both options, but prefers the TT for its agility / steering and low weight. Paula’s super happy with Specialized, mentioned numerous times on TTL podcast.

In fairness to specialized, didn’t Paula pick the TT a few years ago when you could still get the shiv tri? It seemed she was more comfortable and powerful on the TT bike based on her videos and podcasts comments. It was quite the evolution to get a good position that she was confident in (she even made comments about previous bikes and sponsors). Now obviously, you can’t get the shiv tri bike and that limits her but let’s not blame specialized for putting her on the TT bike. She chose it.

I am not getting out of shape for anything. We should just be better, particularly when women are criticised by men. PF seems to get a lot of grief on here for nothing.

The OP is “admin” and I don’t know who that is!

The saddle fore aft-difference between a 75 deg and 82 deg (90 deg if you want) is about 1-4" obviously depending on saddle height. Specialized could easily solve this with a forward seat post design like manufacturers have done for decades (ironically, the Spec Transition comes to mind, but since we are in 2024(5):

Putting these two since they are, roughly, about same height.

It is also a bit due to those FastTT aerobars being on the longish side. The same reason why they come within a couple of weeks with a small and medium size fir smaller males and females.

That could help. But is specialized even in the tri market anymore? Are they sponsoring any non drafting triathletes anymore besides Paula/Eric? They used to have a full roster of athletes and we would be normally talking about athletes switching sponsors this time of year. Specialized was known for completely changing their roster every few years. It just seems over the last few years, they aren’t interested in the tri market.

Last year both India Lee and Flora Duffy rode the bike - let’s see if that continues in 2025.
