Tattoo

OK, I’m turning 50 next year and I thought for fun I might get my first tat. Something small and not real visible. For the life of me I can’t think of what I might want stamped on my body that is “the” statement I want to make. How do you tat people decide what you want marked on your body for eternity? I guess I could do what most do and have too much tequilla, go down to the shop and seewhat happens.

An M-dot logo, complete with the little ™. Whether you’ve done an ironman or not.

Failing that, your first girlfriend’s name.

So my son and ALL his friends have tattoos. Lots of tattoos.

Basically they all have tatted themselves with things that are meaningful to them. Words, or symbols of words, Respect, loyalty, honor, or runes or symbols of aforementioned words.

One of my favorites is a vine, with C.J.'s parents names, and his brothers name wrapped around the vine. That is what is important to him. I really like that one.

The one I laugh about the most is the kid with the washboard stomach who had his name tattooed on his stomach in three inch letters. If that is not incentive to stay thin I don’t know what is…

Must resist. Its killing me.

My pet peeve is spelling, sorry but it is “Tattoo”.

I have one. No desire to get another. It doesn’t change your life as you might expect it will.

I guess I could do what most do and have too much tequilla, go down to the shop and seewhat happens.

I don’t know if that is too true anymore. There is a little shop downtown, and they only have about 10 parking spaces. I tell you, they are almost always filled. There are people coming and going almost the whole time they are open. Of course, they do piercings too, but still, they are too busy to be anything but mainstream.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it. But, to each his own!

My favorite so far has been a vagina with a bloodshot eyeball staring back out at you. Failing that if I ever got one it would be a mole. Same exact as all my other moles. I’d have it somewhere visible and no one could tell. Aside from that I like Vitus’s idea of tattoo’ing that entire sentence on you as really, what statement could be made that you would want permanently on your body that can’t and or shouldn’t be made in a better method.

Tim, I’m here to help (and in doing so, you’ll help me).

I have this ideal tattoo in mind for me that I’ll never get because I’m a skinny bastard and I’ll just look like a PWT crank head if I do. You can have my cool tattoo FOR me and save me from myself.

Here it is:

A fierce osprey clutching a bicycle wheel in one talon and an ice-axe in the other. That’s it. Make it big enough to cover your entire upper back and you’ll rock forever.

When someone asks you about it just say you knew this guy from an online forum and he gave you the idea. Simple.

Now git’er done!

I would think in order to make the picture compete it would require that the Eagle have a set of Powercranks in it’s jaws. What kind of bike wheel? I would think the talon’s would make a mess of a disk and spoke would be tacky. How about a trispoke or something?

Nope; it has to be a Mavic GP4 built on a Campy low flange hub. My first real race wheelset. A good artist will work out the talon/spoke issue I think. Let that be the test.

And, nothing in the fishhawk’s mouth, screamin’ eagle style.

I have this thing well worked out in my mind’s eye.

front or rear? 3x or radial spokes? straight gauge or double butted?

If its a GP4, the it has to be 36 spokes and a pair of nice Wolber sewups.

Front with the QR installed. Thirty-six spokes. Three cross. Fourteen gauge DT. No Wolbers; Clement or Vittorias (CX on the front wheel).

that looks like tribodyboarder.

not bad, not bad… change the ice pick to a water ski and you have my recreation life in a nutshell.

Must resist. Its killing me.

Let it out! Let it out!

It’s unhealthy to keep things bottled up.
