Tattoo Removal; any success stories?

Well, how successful? Were they able to accurately estimate the number of passes?

Thanks!

I don’t know if I’d call mine a success story. I had 3 tattoos removed on my forearms: Two were primarily black work, the third was a snake done in Japan that was yellow, green, red and black. I got a package deal from a plastic surgery center for total removal of all three with no limit to the number of passes.

It has been a long time since my last pass (several years now), and life has gotten in the way of finishing. The first few passes were pretty much “hit everything possible”, but the later passes were more targeting areas more specifically. I believe I probably had about 8-10 passes already, and I think that’s close to what they estimated. The black work is pretty much gone, although the laser will potentially remove some of the pigment from your skin, so I’ve got some spots that look pretty bad. When I get a sun tan, they don’t tan. The arm hair is a bit thinner through that area, too.

The green and yellow still show up on the snake, and people can tell something was there. I imagine 3 or 4 more passes would take care of those.

If you’d like, I can snap a couple of pictures later today/tonight.

You regret getting that IM tattoo?

Cool. A few photos would be great. Feel free to IM.

Ha! That would be an easy, one pass if that’s all it was. I don’t mind what I have. I just wish they didn’t extend at all beyond a standard Polo shirt sleeve… Just enough shows when I move or raise arms to cause me to not where them, depending on where I am. I shouldn’t care, but I do.

That is unfortunate…

The best solution to tattoo removal is never get one in the first place.

Or get so many you hide your mistakes. 😘

You’re talking about my niece. She isn’t the sharpest knife on the drawer to begin with, but in her early 20’s she got the cheesiest looking most visible tats you’ve ever seen. They look like a 7 yr old did them. She even got one with her boyfriend’s name on it, and of course they’ve long broken up. She’s taken the last five years struggling to get through a two year community college program but will finally graduate this spring providing she passes all her courses. She’s going to have to either fix or remove some of her tats if she expects somebody to hire her.

Yep. I got my first “daily visible” tattoo in my early 30s. By that time, I was already established in my career and, more importantly, had the money to get high quality ink. There are plenty of people who don’t like tattoos and, therefore, don’t like mine. But, I have never met anyone who did not think they were well done. My favorite comment of all time was something to the effect: “You know, I really don’t like tattoos and I think you look ridiculous with them all over your arms, but the artwork is really amazing!” What the hell do you say in response to that???

<<What the hell do you say in response to that???>>

You say, “Duly noted, your honor.”

I think certain tattoo schemes fit for certain people. While others scream white trash. Certain places should never have tattoos. Specifically places that can’t be covered. A full sleeve can be covered. It might suck in the hot and humid florida summer or the brutally hot Arizona summer, but hey that’s the choice we make. Tattoos on hands, and neck scream white trash. Especially letters on your fingers. Occasionally you see somebody with them on their face. Only Tyson can pull that off. Even he looked ridiculous for a while. Everyone else who does that is a loser and better be serving life in prison where it doesn’t matter.

So all the women who get their eyebrows and lips done should rot in jail?

Wow, whenever I think this guy can’t be that twisted, you are able to add another turn.

I think you know what I’m talking about.

Digging this thread up because I just had my first tattoo removal appointment a week or so ago. Thirty years ago this summer I got a small oriental script tattoo on my left shoulder that, to me, screams white trash. I’ve hated it for a long time and I can, for the most part, keep it covered. But I’ve wanted it gone for years. I just hate it being there. It’s going to take most of the year to get it off and it’s going to cost at least $1,000 to do so. When I had it done, it cost $50 and took 14 minutes. If it alters the color of my skin, I’m OK with that. I’d rather have a lighter patch on my arm than the ink. And it hurts – pretty badly. Thankfully, the sessions aren’t terribly long.
