Tasty Recovery Beverage

I saw a post on “accellerade/Endurox” and it reminded me to post this.

I’ve come up with a very tasty recovery drink that I use on Friday afternoons/evenings after my long run. Here it is: combine 14 oz of ice and water (I just eyeball the ice/water ratio) with two scoops of “Tangy Orange” Endurox R4 and a double shot of premium aged tequila (I prefer Porfidio Anejo, but you can use your own favorite). Combine in a blender and process. If you want a little extra “froth” and some protien (and you’re not afraid of a little salmonella) you can also add a raw egg white. You can also coat the rim of your glass with salt for a little electrolyte replacement to boot!

I like to sit out on the deck after my long Friday afternoon runs, sipping my “Endurox-a-rita,” reflecting on my week’s accomplishments and fantasizing about the next race, when I will miraculously surge from the MOP to win my age group and qualify for a Kona slot (the more I have to drink, the more plausible it becomes) :slight_smile:

Drinking is a great way to negate the value of your workout and recovery drink, however…

My discount recovery drink is a scoop of gatorade and a scoop of vanilla Phil’s shake… I could get into the physiology, but I’m lazy.

I still think the best post race recovery drink is a nice cold beer.
