Taping the helmet vents for a race

Are there any USAT rules on covering your vents on your aero helmet?
I have a cold weather race this weekend (ok, rain and 50) and it is only 11miles.

Every sec may count, plus I am expecting a little chill.
Any rules behind taping the vents (duct tape)?
Will it really buy me a few seconds or is it hogwash?

Helmet covers are acceptable. Try clear packing tape running front-to-back over the vents, then a hair dryer to tighten the tape (this takes some patience, but it will get very smooth.) It will be faster than a normal vented road helmet. An aero helmet? If it’s really aero, then the vents should be pretty small, so it won’t help a lot. If it isn’t really aero, then it should help

My advice to you is pedal faster and don’t let Picnic Boy 1 crush your dreams.

Oh, if it’s not PB #3…when I am worried about one of the infamous “Picnic Boys” (in any race) then it may be time for me
to find a new Hobby.

You better start looking b/c I am coming for you this summer. I hear they offer pole dancing classes in Vicksburg now, you may enjoy that.HAHA
