TANYC Mission and Goals
TANYC’s mission, as a non-profit (501 (c) 3) organization, is to
serve the New York City triathlete (yes, all 5 boroughs) community.
TANYC will offer members an enhanced triathlon experience by
providing access to a number of resources that include networked
training, expert information from knowledgeable entities and
coaching, retailer discounts, and assistance with race logistics to
name a few. The strategic goals focus on being a valuable resource to
triathletes of all levels and helping them continue to improve their
performance. TANYC’s goals also include growing the NYC triathlon
community by recruiting new triathletes, embracing them, and easing
their transition. TANYC will help field teams of various levels
(hopefully sponsored) in local and national competition and instill a
strong sense of ‘esprit de corps’ amongst member triathletes. Above
all, TANYC will provide a social platform to network, train, and
exchange knowledge and experiences, and with those that have similar
goals.
TANYC Website
TANYC will soon have a home at www.tanyc.org (www.tanyc.com will get
you there as well!). This is a considerable effort and the goal is
to be up and running by March 1st. TANYC is looking for people who
are interested in writing, sharing their experiences and expertise,
and contributing content to various sections of the website. The
intention is to make sure the site is fresh and lively. TANYC needs
your help in reaching this goal. Please send email to
megabyzus@hotmail.com if interested.
Executive Team and Incorporation
Many of you know members of the executive team who are taking time
out of their precious schedules to assist in this effort:
- Giancarlo (‘G’) Giangola (ggiangola@yahoo.com)
- Mo Moadeli (megabyzus@hotmail.com)
- Renee Rosen (RENEEROSEN@aol.com)
- Vicky Tiase (vickster5150@yahoo.com)
In addition, TANYC is getting critical help from others in various
areas. Nikki Purdy (nikki_purdy@hotmail.com) has graciously joined
the organization as a staff member from IRONMANUSA where she worked
for a few years. She published TANYC’s very first newsletter and
will be helping in various capacities moving forward. Stephen Katz,
TANYC’s legal counsel, has also kindly agreed to help with TANYC’s
incorporation as a non-profit (501(c) 3). TANYC is lucky to have
Stephen since he has crucial experience in incorporating non-profit
sport organizations. In addition, John Elliot
(jelliott@marathonguide.com), President of Web Marketing Associates
will be providing resources for the large effort behind designing and
implementing the TANYC website. Erik Gudowski
(contacts@ehgdesign.com), owner of EHG Designs, a graphical design
company, will assist in developing TANYC’s logo, brand, and graphics
elements.
TANYC, and on behalf of New York City’s Triathlon community, wishes
to thank these people for giving their time and expertise and helping
make New York City’s first independent triathlon organization a
reality.
Membership Fees and Sponsorships
Membership fees are currently being structured to reflect what TANYC
offers to the community. A sponsorship strategy is also being
developed that will be used as a basis to approach sponsors for how
they wish to support TANYC triathletes.
We Need Your Support, Help, and Feedback
TANYC will be formally up and running on April 1st. Things won’t be
perfect so TANYC will look to the triathlon community to grow and
improve. Your feedback, help, and attention are crucial to the
organization’s success.
There is an immediate need for the following volunteer expertise (if
interested in any of these positions please contact Mo Moadeli at
megabyzus@hotmail.com).
- TANYC needs another person on the executive team to help with
building the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for
thinkers who can also execute in a highly delegated environment and
impact TANYC immediately and effectively. - Triathlon Training and Coaching Director
- Triathlon Training leaders (e.g. weekend bike/runs)
- People who are interested in contributing articles to the web
site. - A Treasurer to be on the executive team, manage finances, and
provide general direction to TANYC as an executive member. - At the very least help with your FEEDBACK. Please avoid the
newsgroup for this particular subject. Email your thoughts instead
to megabyzus@hotmail.com
Newsgroup
You are encouraged to post to the newsgroup. The information you
provide is of tremendous help to your teammates. Post on and keep it
clean and on subject!
Membership Recruitment
Please recommend TANYC to your friends, colleagues, and teammates.
Your active involvement is needed to help TANYC grow. Just send them
the newsgroup URL (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nycmultathletes/)
and encourage them to join! Don’t forget, the larger the memberships
the more leverage with local officials, corporate sponsors, and
retailers. And the stronger the leverage the better off you are!
LAUNCH PARTY! (Wednesday March 10th).
Our Launch Party is scheduled for Wednesday March 10th. This will be
a great event so support TANYC by setting your calendars and joining
us in our kick-off! Stay tuned for further details.
There and Back Again
So here we are. How many times have you asked why New York City
doesn’t have an independent triathlon organization? We’ve asked the
same question and now a serious effort is being mounted. An
organization is being built and you can help building it. It is
exciting and it is demanding. Dedicated people are volunteering
their time for this common goal. TANYC needs your support. Go TANYC!
See you on the road,
Mo Moadeli
