Taking my son to his first pro football game

We will be pulling for the birds…I really wish that we did not have Mike Vick…maybe he will get dinged and Matt Shaub will play…he looses as many games as he wins for us…We could have had LT…

Well, good, that should be really fun. I completely agree with your assessment of Michael Vick. Guys like that can be terribly frustrating to have on your team. In some ways Brett Favre is that way, though possibly he had more consistancy. As a Lions fan I know Barry Sanders was the same way. Barry was pretty reliable for a 100 yards a game. The thing was that he would go -2, -3, +2, -4, +25, through the whole game. What made Barry so awesome was that the +25 as often as not would come on a 3rd and 12 (which he created from the first 2 run plays) off of the Wayne Fontes signature play, the draw. Boy he was fun to watch.

Have a great time and make sure you treat your boy to the whole deal. It is going to be a great time!

First one I ever took my son to was a Raiders game. Never been back.
That is not shocking. Raider fan is the worst.

I went to an A’s playoff games about 4 years ago. I think they were playing the Yank’s. The A’s came back to win in the bottom of the 9th so the fans were abnormally pumped coming out of the stadium. There was this cute young family with two cute little kids (4 - 8 yrs old) dressed in full-on Yank’s garb, Several A’s fans were following closely behind them totally taunting them in a loud, offensive obnoxius manner. It pissed me off so bad I have never been back. I’m just not into pro sports anymore.

“when the time comes - and you will know it by the presence of TO’s mug in your crosshairs - FIRE FIRE FIRE!”

And there you were, with no batteries or iceballs. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

**Hall angry that Owens spit in his face **

ATLANTA - DeAngelo Hall has always considered Terrell Owens to be friend. They would talk on the phone and playfully taunt each other. Not anymore. Not after Owens spit in Hall’s face

We/he had a great time!..even in the loss. We did get some beer spilled on us. No worries. He was very excited to see Morten Andersen set the all time scoring record and see the first 1000 yard season for a QB.

Oh yeah…TO is a punk.

You don’t have to be an Eagles fan to hate the Cowboys, it comes natural to most outside of Texas.

No kidding. THe Cowboys and the Giants, do sports stations cover any of the teams outside of these two? Do they realize that no one outside of Dallas and NY want to hear about Romo/TO or Tiki Barber retiring day-after-day, week-after-week. Geez, these teams could be 14-2 or 2-14 and we STILL hear about them all the time. Why?

Why aren’t they covering the Chargers like crazy? Oh yeah, the Chargers focus on what happens ON the field. It’s like reporters in NY and Dallas really wanted to be soap opera writers or something.

That is pretty pathetic. I think while the growth of sports has had many benefits, part of the tradeoff is that some people almost try to live vicariously through their teams, and they think that since they invest their whole life in their team, other people do the same. It is pretty pathetic that someone would feel the need to taunt someone wearing the other team’s shirt. A little good natured ribbing once in a while is ok, but to sit there and get in their face is just disgusting. These are the same people who really think they have an impact on the game, who think the team really actually cares what they think. There was an Oustide the Lines special on this a few years ago, about how some customers were actually beaten up because they dared cheer for the other team. A little perspective needs to be brought to these people’s lives.

I’m outside Texas, and a die hard Cowboys fan. It’s better than hearing that the Rams lost… again.

EDIT

Perhaps I should put a “:)” in here, just so’s you know I’m kidding around.

I’m outside Texas, and a die hard Cowboys fan. It’s better than hearing that the Rams lost… again.

Perhaps I should adopt that strategy. Only instead of the Rams, insert the Lions.

True. I’m also not requesting more coverage of the Cleveland Browns or Houston Texans, etc … but there are other stories going on besides whatever is going on with the Giants, Cowboys, and well, Reggie Bush.

Some major rookies are having impact seasons (not that anyone would notice), and well, Drew Brees is just going crazy (good) in NO … but I guess all he’s doing doesn’t compare to Tony Romo’s 4 good games or whatever TO is doing to steal attention away from Romo or Tiki Barber’s impending retirement. I especially don’t understand the latter since so many back-up RB’s have gone over the 100y mark this season.

Actually, I’m surprised NO isn’t a bigger story given eveything that’s going on in the city. LaDanian Tomlinson should be THE story of the season, the Colts up and down struggles should be a story, as should the suddenly offensiveless Patriots. The playoff picture this year is more evenly matched than any season in recent memory.
