Taking a minute to make a sick little girl smile (AML Leukemia

I have some dear friends who have the biggest hearts in the world and I thought I would share this with you.

This is from Baileys Buddies FB page.

Bailey Jade Walker is an amazing 5 1/2 year old girl with a huge imagination and a loving heart. She loves to play with her friends at school and she loves learning new things from her teachers. Bailey enjoys the outdoors such as collecting lady bugs, going to the beach, taking wagon rides, swimming and taking walks with her family.

On April 16, 2010 Bailey was walking to music class with her friends when she got confused and walked into the wall. The teachers noticed that something was not right with Bailey. She then went to the hospital to get some tests - first sign of her blood counts and platelets being low. She continued to go to her doctor to determine what was going on and to see if her count had gone up. On May 4, 2010 bailey went back to her doctor to check her blood count but her count had not changed for the better. The following day Bailey was addmitted to The All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg and diagnosed with AML Leukemia. Her treatment began Wednesday May 5, 2010 and will continue until our Angel is all better. She is very strong with good spirits and knows that God is love. All the prayers are appreciated and we thank everyone for the support.

For those who are asking about donations, you can donate to Bailey’s trust account and make checks payable to:

They started a FB page for her and word went out to try to get 500 friends in a week. That was around 7:00PM local time. She hit 500 a few hours later and 1000 by the next evening ( 24 hours) So those of you that have a FB account if you would add her group that would be great. Shes already getting local TV stations coming to visit her because of the huge turnout from Facebook and the more attention she gets the more attention there is directed at helping those that are dealing with situation. She sits at 1917 friends right now and I want to see her top 2000. I hope some of you take the time to help out ! http://www.facebook.com/…?gid=127788033904480

Thank you for posting this. My 4-year-old is almost done with his treatment for lymphoma, and is doing very well - but the most important message I have tried to convey to others about pediatric cancers is that they can strike anyone, anytime, anyplace, with no history and no reason. I hope that increased awareness will lead to better treatments and more cures for all.

I am sorry I somehow missed your response.

That is great news. I just wanted to add something to this so people can help those that help others. This is a message I received from a friend who has been instrumental in getting things organized for this young lady.
As you all know, Bailey was granted one of her biggest wishes in the world: to spend the evening with Justin Bieber at his concert. This wonderful experience was made available by “Little Smiles” … a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides toys, games, DVD’s, computers, VIP outings, celebrity meet and greets, concert, sporting event tickets, theme park tickets, fun food runs, nerf gun wars and much, much more…for children in local hospitals, hospices and shelters.

An amazing opportunity has now become available for Little Smiles. Jimmie Johnson’s Helmet of Hope program was launched in 2008 to give fans and media members across the country the opportunity to nominate their charity of choice to be featured on Jimmie’s Helmet of Hope for the Pepsi 400 race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

If you have a few moments, please help us thank Little Smiles by taking a few minutes to nominate them under the “Fans” tab here:

http://www.jimmiejohnsonfoundation.org/Events/Samsung-Helmet-of-Hope.aspx

To fill out the nomination, you will need to know Little Smiles’ website address is: littlesmiles.org

Thank you, in advance, for taking the few minutes to make a difference. The board members of Little Smiles are all volunteers and took so much of their personal time to help Bailey receive her biggest wish. I do hope you will take a few minutes to say thank you in a way that will be heard and appreciated. Little Smiles deserves this recognition!

Let’s do this!

Awesome.

My son is now 3+ months post treatment, and cancer free. He made a friend last fall at the hospital, a 4-year-old little girl, who had AML like Bailey, but has completed treatment and is also cancer free. Tell Bailey to hang in there!!!
