Tacx Neo users

Hello,

I’m considering buying a Tacx neo now as I am able to claim a store credit with my LBS. I’ve been reading some reviews about the neo and in the initial launch there were complaints about it being slow to adapt to power changes, especially in TR. I have yet to find any information as to whether this has been fixed. Has this been addressed? I like working out to the Sufferfest videos and having my trainer not react to the changes in pace may push me towards the Kickr.

Any new information on this?

I don’t use TR… but it’s been fine with Zwift and recent use on FULGAZ

Pretty smooth. But can’t go wrong with new kickr either.

I couldn’t be happier with my neo

Had issues with my Kickr 2 re: noise, consistency of power and calibration.

Just got one this week
3 TR rides in it to date.
Road a Kicker2 for past 2 months

It seems slightly slower to adjust to cadence changes.
But it feels super smooth, you don’t notice any abrupt changes in resistance, and it keeps the average wattages for the intervals bang on.

I love it, prefer it over the kicker2. That is why I bought it instead of keeping the Kicker2

I have a neo and jumped from a computrainer. Best tool I’ve had for training. Along with trainer road, I made large jumps in fitness with time effective training. I think most Trainer road programs adjust for big power swings with slow increases to allow the trainer to adjust.

I also just switched to power match so my quarq controls the effort and it works well. Provides a good benchmark for outdoors. Though it’s not as smooth as the neo controlling the interval. I haven’t done that many spikey sessions (e.g.: 30s max efforts with 10s rest , repeats). I imagine those sessions don’t work as well as longer intervals which the neo can slowly adjust. Though, on the comoutrainer, quicklu going up and down in power was a pain.

I picked up a Neo late last year. I upgraded from a very old fluid trainer so I’m not as familiar with other newer trainers that are also on the market. While I primarily bought the Neo because of its lack of any real noise I’ve been very happy with it. I used Zwift initially but ultimately decided on TR. I’m very happy with it and the transitions with efforts, etc are very smooth.
