Any Tacx Fortius users out there? Me too… what up. There should be more discussion on here on how to get the most use out of them.
I know there are alot of files out there on the net that people can convert into their Computrainers, but is it possible to convert a Computrainer file to Fortius? I say this because it’s much more likely to find IM Coeur d’Alene for Computrainer.
2b. Long shot… anyone out there have the IM CdA bike course for Tacx Fortius?
Barring all that, can you watch the CdA bike course video by Computrainer on a regular DVD player or do you need special software or (worse) do you need a computrainer?
Following an earlier thread’s instructions from Kevin in MD, I used MapItPronto to create a loop of the IMCdA course for Tacx Fortius. Being a Catalyst file (i.e. elevations and distances), it isn’t video-based, but I could pm the pgmf file to you if you’d like. You’ll find more discussion of Tacx training on their website (along with archives of some other IM courses).
I have the CdA course, I’ll send it to you for 10 big ones, but you might try the other guy who will send it to you for free.
The new software will apparently make a virtual world course to go with your gps course. I have the software on order and I’ll let you know how it works.
Which software are you talking about? I’m about to upgrade my Fortius software as well, as I finally have the right video card to take advantage of the graphics. I’m curious as to how that will work.
as I understand it, I take the file and save it in catalyst as a “course” and then open it and ride it. I was not aware you could produce graphics for those courses.
The new tacx total trainer software apparently includes catalyst 3d which will do what I am describing above. It is available form tacx for 50 euros. I got my copy in last night. I’ll let you know how it goes.
You are right about saving the pgmf file as a course in catalyst. I am referring to new catalyst 3d software that they just came out with and you buy separately, and if history is any guide is still pretty bug filled.
As for taking the file and saving it as a course, there’s one extra step in there that Eric will probably tell you about.
The install was fine, no problems so far. But I haven’t used it much.
Turns out that the 3d world it creates is not like the advertisements at all! Kinda like when we used to buy an atari game way back when; it looked so cool on the box.
So it’s not the world in the ad where there are bushes and grass and bridges, it’s just a flat layout that on my computer was a little buggy so I haven’t tried it yet.
