Its a great race and well run… but how can you say you love the swim?? There is nothing worse than swimming in a warm duck/goose pond.
Ive done it the last couple years but probably skipping it this year b/c of IMKY.

If you’ve ever swam one of the tuxedo brother races at Indiana Downs, you’d probably have a new respect. Granted a duck/goose pond isn’t the ideal swim venue, but it’s viewer friendly, there aren’t any wierd angles you have to navigate, you have tree’s surrounding it so the sun doesn’t blind you when trying to sight. I know… I know… HTFU!!! Considering all the open water swims I’ve done, I’d say at a minimum it’s better than average. It’s been a few years since I’ve done the race, who know’s maybe things have changed since then…
The pond is the same as it has been ever since I can remember… its about 5 miles down the road from where I live. You are right though, the swim is very spectator friendly and the trees offer good shade from the morning sun. Make sure to visit the beer truck at the finish line!
