I won;t be racing this weekend at The 360 Fitness/Bikesport Sylvania Triathlon so I can do the announcing for the event. Who is doing the race?
Also, since I have to talk for five hours during the thing and you guys will invariably have to listen to me please provide me with details, stories, amusing annecdotes, race histories, background info, etc. on yourselves so I can try to work it into the program.
I wish I was racing but this is a big event and I do enjoy announcing so I am looking forward to it.
I am an admitted slowtwitch lurker. This was my first triathlon so I will be celebrating my two year tri-anniversary August 15. My family will be watching so if you could ask the quiet Jeremy Miller cheering section to make some noise, that will get me moving a little faster.
I’ll be there for the oly… Can’t give you to much info/ color though, I am just another single minded triathlete.
Background is tri for 5 years, My training partner for the first 4 years got Leukemia (sp?) last year and got his bone marrow transplant this year and is hoping to be back racing next year. He may be at Sylvania spectating.
Other than that very boring training focused life, but thats the way I like it.
Stop over to the announcing stand during a lull in the action. Maybe I can grab a quick interview since your entire family is racing. That’s an interesting angle.
I’m in for this weekend. I’ve never done this race but I’ve heard very good things about it, so it should make the trip worthwhile (I’m coming in from NW PA).
I seem to have developed a severe tri-addiction this summer, and need to race a lot!
I’m going to pass on Sylvania this year. The wife and I are getting in our last 100 miler before IM Wisconsin.
I remember a few years back when Paul McMullen (the miler from EMU) went down to Sylvania…I think he did quite well as I recall. He was up there in the overall finishers…but I think he got some sort of penalty…does anyone recall that? I wonder what his run split was?
Guilty as charged, yes Northcoast Balloons is the company. I am hoping more race directors need finish lines so we can travel the globe and set them up.
I am in. As far as color goes, it will be my third triathlon and my first Olympic distance after two sprints (Ann Arbor and Waterloo). I have been to your store once and bought a pair of leg warmers that I may wear for the bike as it looks to be below 60 for the ride. Putting them on won’t affect my T1 much; it will still be slow. Of course, pointing out the leg warmers on someone going as slowly as I do on the bike may cost you some sales.
The only color I can give you is that my bike now looks even more cool. Oh and I was 20 for 20 in a “Real or Fake” boob spotting game from Playboy that I came across at kontraband.com.
My family will be there. My 10 and 8 year old sons will be du-ing on Saturday. Then the oldest boy will be participating in the Maumee soccer tournament (same area as the the tri).
My more competitive wife and I will be doing the Olympic distance tri on Sunday. We are tied 2-2 for the Jakes house tri-trophy this year. This will be our third time at Sylvania and Kathleen has crushed me the first two times. I am coming off a 5 minute PR at the Shermanator, so I’m looking to improve on that in this short swim/fast and flat tri. I’m really hoping for wetsuit temperatures this year, but that may be asking too much.
