For those still swimming outdoors maybe looking for some early a.m. motivation heading out the pool here is some pump you up yootoobes. Lezak closing out the 4 x 100 in 2008. There are some insanely good versions of this with good music, but this is the official NBC coverage.
It’s 46 outside hope the wind stops blowing! Off to da pool!
Oh 46F… you poor baby! That’s a heat wave in Jan.! -4F this morning, and if I had a 78F heated pool in my backyard, I’d be in it… with a neoprene cap and enjoying every minute.

I got you beat -11F and a “feels like” temp with windchill of -31F. The forecast for tonight is -21F but calmer winds which is great. And not even the “heated” pool at my gym will get me into a swimsuit…

You know what’s scary? I come from colder climates(Chicago), but not 6 months after moving to Florida I developed thin skin. Hits 65 and I’m looking for a sweatshirt!
Getting out of the pool was pure torture as the winds are 25 steady gusting to 40, but the water was nice!
I love re-watching that race. They used to have an “official” version of the race shot from underwater (same Dan Hicks/Rowdy Gaines commentary…Rowdy’s excitement just adds that much more to watching it) which impressed me even more because above the surface those guys look like they are just thrashing through the water, but when you see the perspective from underwater, you get to see that its not thrashing but good mechanics at high speed.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing!!!
To swim at those effort levels and not lose grip on the water is nuts. Lezak…46.06…like a boss. Last spring was fun for me with several PR’s in 50 and 100 events. When I think about those times in YARDS and what he did in meters I just bust out laughing at how freaky those people are. Sure he is an Olympian and I’m mr. joe schmoe nobody, but still it’s fun to look at the clock and realize how amazingly awesome people can be. That vid pumps me up 5 years later!
Strummin the air guitars Melvin, I remember that. The next day when Tom Dolan won the 4im (Vendt won the silver), he was so charged up (or pissed at the previous nights air guitar strumming), he screamed “f-you australia”. That turned around the rest of the meet.
