Does anyone swim & lift weights on the same days? I usually swim on Mon, Wed, Fri and can never seem to find the right time to mix in upper body lifting. I know some will say why lift at all, but I still try to ‘fit it in’
I also fit in weights and yes, i sometimes do them on swim days. I would typically put the swim as more priority and do it before weights unless it is an easy one (like 1000-1500y or something) in which case i may do weights first to get more out of them and then use the swim to cool down. When doing it before weights makes you more tired to get a lot out of a weight workout so realize that and don’t try to push out a lot of hard stuff. I also would do smaller muscles groups after a swim, ie shoulders.
Usually i do weights on the same day as a mid-week run.
I don’t upper body lift the same day I swim. I’ve tried and the 2’nd one is always poor. I try to swim 3 days and lift 2.
I lift after swimming. The swim is a priority so I do it first. I don’t want to be sore/tired for the next swim, so I tend not to lift the day before unless it’s an easy swim (as someone else said.)
Same here. It took a few weeks the adjust, but now it works well. Also, my pool has a gym attached. Big time saver.
I’ll often lift after a swim. My lifting suffers, but its secondary anyway. When I left the day before a swim, I’;m a bit slower than usual. I really appreciate the time savings
