For the next 120 days I’m staying in a town with limited swimming pools. Has anybody ever tried those contraptions made of rubber tubing and belts that allow someone to swim in place in a small pool? Do they work? Does your form suffer? How do you hook them to the side of the pool? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-
I’m in Panama City, Fl…you would think there would be a plethora of pools, but no…an outdoor one at the base with limited hours for lap swim, and the community college that also has limited hours.
I did my first ocean swim at the Panama City Beach Sprint tri and swallowed about a gallon of salt water mis-timing the waves and breathing. Plus I think I would think about sharks the entire time if I was swimming alone…
I’m surprised that more of you don’t swim in the ocean. Every time I’m in Florida, usually in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale areas, I get up early before the waves get too big and go for a nice long training swim. I really enjoy ocean swimming and don’t really worry about the sharks, fish, etc…

Rule #1: Never swim in the ocean alone
Rule #2: Never swim in the ocean before dawn or after dusk
Rule #3: Never swim in the ocean with a dog
Rule #4: Never swim in the ocean with a cut, scrape or road rash.
Remember … “if there’s salt where you be; sharks you may see” … Arrrrgh!!!
