Swimming in Las Vegas?

I’m in Las Vegas for business next week (Feb 20 till Feb 28) and looking for places to swim. I’m staying near The Venetian Hotel-Resort-Casino - Sands Expo Convention Center. Any pools in the neighborhood (walking distance)?

Lots of pools, but I wouldn’t bother doing lap swimming.
Instead, I’d admire the tiny pieces of cloth called bathing suits, and be thankful to be alive.

Locates pools anywhere in the world.

I highly recommend the Desert Breeze pool on Spring Mountain… its an awesome facility, but you’d have to take a cab - probably about 7 miles from where you are. I think the closest to that area that isn’t inside a hotel is about a 4 mile walk…

Just hop in the Bellagio, uhm, lake? and do some long laps. Mind the water show though… that could take you for a ride.

Try the Henderson Multi Generational Center. http://www.cityofhenderson.com/parks/pools/locations_hours_and_fees.php#fees This is also T2 for the Silverman course. It’s too far to walk, but it would only be a 10 min cab ride from your hotel.

x2 on the Multi Generational center. Holler if you’ll have your bike, we can suggest some rides. Well worth the cab ride

I calculated a cab ride there from the strip…FORTY FREAKIN DOLLARS! Not a chance in hell…

thanks for the info though

Last trip to Vegas I took cabs here and they have a lapper, can’t remember how much but it was not too far…

The title of your thread sounds like a movie title.

It’s like a combination of Spalding Gray’s “Swimming to Cambodia” and Hunter S. Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”.

UNLV has a nice pool , but I don’t know how accessible it is to the general public, close to the strip though. LV Masters swims at Desert Breeze 5:30-7:00am M-F. Vic Hecker is a great coach and you can drop $3/ day. A friend of mine swims laps at the Wynn, Venetian may have some 25 yd lap lanes. Good Luck

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but…the Wynn has an excellent pool to swim in and is located right next to the Venetian. The pool is heated in the Winter time. The pool is laid out in such a way that you are able to swim probably 100 yards or so before you have to turn around. They typically ask for your room key to enter into the pool area in the warmer months, but I doubt it would be an issue this time of year.

Second the long pool at the Wynn. Would provide a pseudo open water work out. David K
