I’m going to be in Connersville next mon, tue and wed for work. Does anyone know of decent places to swim in that area while I’m there. I’ve heard there is a whole lot of nothing around there.
I would be looking for bike routes too.
thanks

i live in bloomington indiana and i have never heard of Connersville. Even Swimmersguide.com doesnt have it listed so i think u r out of luck.
but i can assure u there will be plenty of good routes to ride with minimal traffic.
Connersville is very close to Oxford, OH. Miami University is there, and they have an beautiful indoor facility, and if its still there, when I was in summer school there 20 years ago, there was an outdoor public pool where you could swim laps. Check out www.muohio.edu. North of Oxford is Heuston Woods - lots of trails to ride or run on, and that whole area is very rural, you can ride anywhere without traffic worries. I don’t know specific routes in that area, but if you just grab a county map and ask someone for decent roads, I’m sure you can get in some good rides.
Thanks, that is pretty close, I’ll check it out.

Oxford is a great little town. Good restaraunts. Not sure when school starts back, so if its next week, things could be a little crowded and crazy there. I’m sure their website will have that information also. Oh yeah, you could also get in an open water swim out at Heuston Woods. There is a swimming area, you could swim just outside the buoys. No lifeguards at the beach so they won’t stop you. BUt I bet the water is really warm.
Richmond Indiana is only 25miles away and should have some pools. There’s also a big lake about 10miles east of Connersville that should have some options for you. As mentioned, biking should not be an issue.
I just found out that I’m staying in a hotel in Richmond so I’m searching there now.
thanks

Richmond has at least one good age group swim club- can’t remember the name- check USMS or USS websites for listings. You might find a age group club you can swim with. Nothing better than having a 10 year old kick your ass to get you going.
Richmond doesn’t have much to offer. But USMS and our LMSC lists Earlham College as having a masters team: **Richmond ** Indiana LMSC Earlham College SW G Street Entrance from College Avenue Richmond, Indiana Lap Swim / Workout Times: M-F 6:30-8:00 am; 11:30am-1:00pm; 4:30-6:30pm; Sat 11:30 am-1:00pm;Sun 4:30-6:30pm Contacts: Shanna Nolan (765) 983-1731 Miscellaneous Info: Uncoached Lap Swim; $6 for Day Pass; 25 meters Record Last Updated: 7/3/02
