Swimmer's Shoulder (1)

Any recommendations out there for exercises to do for “Swimmer’s Shoulder?” I originally injured myself using paddles followed by poor technique. I have since corrected my technique (high elbows) yet still continue to have pain. Any recommendations from those swim experts out there or others who have had the same problem?

I am researching this, too. So far, getting stronger in that area seems to be most common advice. found this page as am thinking of getting a vasa trainer or their new erg. hope it helps.

I’m not an expert by any means but I did just pick up two very helpful workouts by Championship Productions.

I ordered the swim and core DVD’s. Obviously the swim one is going to address proper form and avoiding shoulder issues but I was pretty happy with how much the Core workout focused on injury prevention for swimming and demonstrating strength and flexibility drills. The woman does a great job explaining where the power should come from (lats) and if done incorrectly…how it messes with the shoulder. I found it helpful. FWIW, I’m a new swimmer and started out with clicking and aches and pains now and then. I’ve been able to eliminate them lately.

I use to get this problem after every swim. I was afraid to do sprints in my workouts because it would flare up. I then started to do a very good warm down. I took my time and put in about 200-300 yards. I would vary the stroke and I haven’t had a problem since.

The best info I have seen id from usa swimming. They have a workout already setup.
