In an effort to get a change of pace fom all of this cycling mania, some news form the swim world:

Thorpe won’t defend the 400m in ht eOlympics as discussed in Francois’ thread

Six, I repeat six, world records have been set in the first two days of the NCAA Championship meet

  • Crocker broke :50 in the 100m fly (DAMN)
  • Fred Bousquet, a frenchman, broke the 50m free record swimming in lane eight after making the finals in a swimoff

The Olympics will indeed be interesting this year (roof or no roof)

George Bouvell is from Trinidad. The Carribean basin has actually had a number of good fast swimmers over the years. (Anthony Nesty and Janelle Atkinson also come to mind) The usual pattern there is for swimmers who show real talent to end up at a Florida prep school like Bolles for the last couple years, then continue on with a US college.
