I am new to this sport and will compete in my first sprint on the 24th of July. the only disciple I am worried about is the swim. I have swam(correct?) the past 4 days at 2000m each day. Should I space out my swim workouts (ie. every 2 days) or something? I have always been a weightlifter and know not to work the same body parts more than twice a week. Should I do something similar with swimming? I am sore and just want to make sure not to over do it. Thanks. Keep in mind, I want to start small and eventually work into an Oly within 6 months.

You bet. You gotta space out your swim s just like you space out all the rest, otherwise you are gonna blow a shoulder (medical terminology) i wouldnt reccomend doing four swims in a week, especially not for a newbie, especially not for Oly distance. I never do more than three 90min swims, you need to mix up plenty of other strokes too. Otherwise you overwork the front shoulder thingies and they go ouch. (again medical terminology)
an oly dist is only a 30min swim for a newbie. you dont need to go sick on the swims to get that distance, especially if your aim is to finish MOP or BOP.
Thanks. I figured I was somewhat overdoing it. My next mission is to actually swim 1500m in the OW as we have a ton here on Guam. I can actually swim the entire reef line here on base (Navy) as it is 100yds off shore so if something goes wrong, I would be ok. Most of our swims here are in chest high water so the fear of drowning is not there. Just puking in front of everyone or being dead last on the swim:)
