Swim workout

Hey all! The swim workout that I am going to attempt this evening has a set that is as follows:

Does this mean to do: 25FR, 25FL, 25FR, 25BK, 25FR, 25BR, 25FR, 25FR, twice to make 400? Thank you for your help!

I think you are correct. Maybe the person who designed the workout just wanted you to do 25FR twice in a row for more FR distance since that’s the stroke you will primarily use during a tri (at least I hope that’s what you would mostly use  .

Thanks for your help!

Hey, that’s kind of a cool way to do a 400.

Hey, that’s kind of a cool way to do a 400.

Except if they aren’t routine you’d have little idea what your time means.

It’s definitely a good way to break the monotony of swimming a 400.

I think you would know what your time means. It should be about halfway between your 400 free and your 400 IM times. It’s not that strange of a set.

I don’t think it’s relevant what your time is for a set like this. I do tons of stuff like this where I don’t monitor my times especially during warmup.

We used to do sets like this to use some different muscles to freestyle (give your shoulders a bit more rounded workout (coach used to tell us that IM swimmers had less shoulder problems although I can’t cite any research)) and to generally stretch out in the water and loosen up.

To this day I will always throw some IM into my warm-up even for a triathlon swim (and it’s difficult to monitor your times in the ocean).

(pink font) but if you don’t know what your time means you can’t write it down in your training log and analyze it to death! (pink font off)

(I’m making fun of myself as much as anyone else

hehe. My mistake, very un-ST of me
