I’m in Racine until Friday and looking for a good pool or even better a beach/park on Lake Michigan to swim Friday morning? Any suggestions from the locals in the area? Thanks.
Just held last Sunday…

Swim 1.2 mi.
The 1.2 mile swim course is a point to point along North Beach in Lake Michigan. The course will be marked Friday before the race. In the event of rough water conditions, an alternative course will be used in a protected harbor area to ensure the safety and continuation of the swim. North Beach Park is open for practice during the normal swimming season - weather permitting. Water temperature is almost always under 78 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed and encouraged. North Beach is named a Blue Wave Beach by the Clean Beach Council.
North Beach Park, located on the Lake Michigan waterfront, features a beach, swimming, biking, hiking, and various recreational / athletic activities. You’ll also find a concession stand, bathhouse, picnic area, shelter, rest rooms, fishing and a playground.
Here is a map of Racine where North Beach park is listed
http://www.racine.org/files/File/city_map.pdf
Name: North Beach
Location: From I-94, take Highway 20 east to downtown Racine. Turn north on Main Street (Highway 32), then right (east) on Kewaunee Street that dead ends at North Beach Park on Lake Michigan.
Why go? This beach boasts more than 2,500 feet of sandy shoreline. If watching the beautiful Lake Michigan horizon can’t hold the kids’ attention, a 20,000 square-foot play structure awaits them.
Amenities: Volleyball courts, concession stand, bathhouse, picnic area, shelter, restrooms, fishing and playground
Thanks. I headed over after work around 6PM tonight totally geeked to swim, but after wading into the water came to the quick conclusion that it was way too cold to swim sans wetsuit. So walked around the beach a little before heading to Razor Fitness for a swim in the 20yd pool. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Thanks again for the rec. Gotta love ST!
