Swim Can?

I went for OWS this morning at 5-Mile lake (2 laps of the lake and another across-and-back). Since I was alone (don’t start the soap box oration), I took my kick board and dragged it tied to my ankle. Well, it was fine until it tried to dive, causing significant drag. Not that it was a real problem, just irritating. Along with that, I had my car keys in a ziplock baggie in my shorts (and under my wetsuit), thinking they would stay dry – not so (though they didn’t get wet enough for the remote to not work).

I know there’s something that doubles as a safety float and waterproof “stuff” holder that can be towed along… Kind of bullet-shaped, or like the buoys that the beach life-guards use. Any one?

I swim alone as well. I use a rescue can. The strap goes across your back. I have not had a problem swimming with it. And have used it once when I got a leg cramp off shore. It is good piece of mind. I did a search and found one for like $40. I got mine in yellow so any boaters will spot me also. As far as keys goes I hide my keys in the frame of my car so I dont worry of dropping them.

Since I was alone (don’t start the soap box oration),

There was a thread this summer and I think the majority of people who replied to it actually thought swimming alone was okay.

Is there anyone who could swim with you, or kayak alongside you?

Kiefer sells a rescue can for about $50.00

Yeah, I think that’s the one. Thanks!
