I’ve been super happy with the fit of my Swedish goggles that are now nearing 2 years old, and I realized that they’re getting pretty blurry and foggy.
Can anyone recommend a pair that stays clear for awhile? If not, I’ll just keep using my current set, which otherwise fits great (with bungy straps)
Good link - I’ll try those. Exactly what I was looking for. My goggles actually aren’t getting scratched from trauma in a bag, I think just after time, the pool chemicals start degrading the smoothness of the surface. There are no discrete scratches, just a slowly developing haze that doesn’t wash off or polish.
EDIT - doh, I saw they actually have a small gasket! That’s actually a big minus for me; all my gasket goggles have leaked after a few months, which is why I much prefer Swedes.
I got tired of clearing my swedes with my fingers between every repeat/set and started using Jaws Quick Spit Antifog Spary (on Amazon for $10/bottle, which will last a long time); so far I’ve been very happy. I swim outdoors most of the year and the difference between water and air temp was causing more fogging than usual…at least, more than when I swam indoors.
That said, I also go through 2-3 pairs of swedes per season (typically b/c the straps wear out).
It’s not really a gasket on the Nootcas - it’s a thin layer of solid rubber that doesn’t compress at all. It’s basically a Swede with a slightly stickier surface.
But the optics are amazing. After years of tunnel-vision in swedes, the Nootcas are like moving from flash videos to HD.
