Does anyone use a Suunto X6HR during tri’s? I raced with mine for the first time yesterday. The heart rate function worked fine the whole way including during the swim. The elevation did not work properly. I had the reference altitude set correctly at the start. It worked fine during the bike and run. During the swim due to (I assume) water pressure it registered continuous huge negative altitude, anywhere from -200’ to -1460’. As soon as I got out of the water it worked properly.
The problem is when I downloaded the race data the elevation graph for the bike and run pretty much looks like a flat line due to the huge negatives recorded during the swim. The max elevation on the bike and run is only around 350’ (swim at 100’) but there are a lot of rollers. I’d like to more easily see correlations between hills and heartrate which would be evident except for the flat graphs.
You can edit the heartrate with the software but not the elevation. Anyone have any experience with this watch and have any suggestions for how to avoid this problem or fix it after the fact?
