Hey guys,
I’m looking at the Suunto T3C. Can I wear this as an everyday watch and then just hook up HR as needed?
I currently have a Timex Ironman and a Garmin 305 that I train with. What I’m looking for is a ‘watch’ like my Timex that I can wear all the time and not have to change for HR workouts.
Is this the right watch for what i want? Is there an everyday watch with HR out there?

It looks ok, but it is fairly sensitive to scratches (the front being soft plastic). Ymmv, but I wouldn’t use it everyday, as I tend to scratch my watch fairly regularely.
My Timex holds up to the wear pretty well. Think it will wear worse than it? It does have a larger face though. Do you have it?
I don’t have a Timex. The problem with the Suunto is that the “glass face” (I’m lacking vocabulary) is fairly soft plastic, and it’s raised above the “body” of the watch, so everytime the watch hits something, the “glass” will take a hit.
But I know people use it everday, as it’s fairly small and unobtrusive-looking. So if you’re careful and aren’t working in a factory or similar, it might work.
The t3c doesn’t have the ability to download second by second hr readings. although the training effect is nice.
The whole issue about the watch face “scratching easily” is a bit overblown. I sit at a desk all day, like most here I assume. I’m not sure how you scratch the face up with daily use unless you’re doing construction work or something. I wear my T3C everyday, train with it on, lift with it on, swim with it on and then wear it to the office most days and have had no issues with the face scratching. With that said, I did buy the little cover that you put on the face to prevent scratches…ha. Even so, again, I’ve had zero issues.
I think its a great watch/hr and if you buy the foot pod and pc pod it does most everything that youd ever need out of a HR monitor.
I have the Suunto T6C and have worn it almost every day for the past three years. I am on the street every day and am very active for my job. I’m looking at the face right now and there is not a scratch Great watch, great functions, very durable. Only issue I have with the watch is that it eats up batteries.
