Seems pretty crazy that the nutter in PA who decided to randomly take out some cops is still on the loose.
I’d think winter would do him in, unless he’s got some well-stocked “bunkers” or something he’s prepared in the mountains ahead of all of this.
From what I read he had planned this for quite a while. Most likely some of his planning was preparing supplies. People have lived in the woods of PA for quite a while. My sister lives in north central PA. There is really not much civilization there. Lots of vacation and hunting cabins around. He could easily have one of his own or be using empty ones.
It’s not that hard to hide. You realize that people who surpass a certain level of intelligence are not allowed to be police officers?
I would think the tricky part would be being able to stay hidden. Seems they’ve found camps of his, so it doesn’t sound like he has a bunker or something built, which would make it easy. I’d think if he’s out walking around it wouldn’t be that hard to find him with winter coming and the leaves dropping and snow on the ground.

It took 5 years to catch Eric Rudolph in the same kind of scenario.
You also don’t know who he may be getting help from.

Haven’t been following this so…
How do they know the camps found were his?
Also, winter affects everyone. If he’s a “survivalist”, the real deal, he’s head and shoulders above your typical LEO.
I have a friend who lives 3 hours north of Montreal, in the woods. Year round. If he doesn’t want you to find him you won’t.

Came her to see if someone had mentioned Eric Rudolph, leaving satisfied.

Also - Unabomber
I don’t remember if Eric Rudolph was out in the woods eluding people hunting for him, but the Unabomber certainly wasn’t. He was living in a cabin in the woods, but nobody knew to look for him until his brother (?) turned him in.

IIRC, they found things he had written and even got his DNA off of some of the stuff.
Years back there was a guy who killed a woman in Gainesville, Florida. He escaped from a prison and it was assumed that he had fled the area since he wasn’t found. Several months later they found him in a hunting camp/trailer not too far away from the prison. It was odd that he seemed satisfied to stay in the area and didn’t make any attempt to leave.
It doesn’t, but to the boys in blue it deifies you if you are one of them. I think we’ll see more and more of this. As discussed ad nauseum, police don’t seem to be doing a thing to improve their PR, or seem to care what the public thinks about them. And whatever they are doing is having a negative impact when a bunch of well of white collar professionals consider believing a thug over a cop, or remain indifferent to an ambush on them.
Apparently this guy has plans to take out more. Wonder how the boys in blue will transfer this vague threat onto the citizenry. They certainly don’t put an area on lockdown when a ordinary citizen is ambushed or shot. Wonder what other rights they violate to catch the killer of one of their own. Just makes people less sympathetic. A real downward spiral, because if we plebes aren’t worshiping the ground police walk on, they turn up the war on police rhetoric.
For the record, I don’t condone killing cops. I’m just saying that someone with decent survival skills and more than half a brain has a pretty good chance of escaping justice.
