Gov’t waste? Why would bankers need survival kits? Gone are the days of $50 hammers
and $400 toilet seats. Guess now it’s survival kits.

I work for one the big banks (I just do instructional design - I’m not a high-rollin’ money mover), and my team indeed somehow ended up with one of these fancy kits a while back…
The band-aids and whatever useful pills were all pilfered long ago. I guess we are all just supposed to death-match each other for the remaining kit gear if SHTF.
Whatever brainiac came up with this stupid endeavor should be flogged.
Cheers, Chris
I don’t even know how to respond to this except to say — WHY???
Did they give you any explanation as to why you were getting one of these?
None at all… I wasn’t one who actually received the delivery, but I distinctly remember that the lady who did remarked that it was all very odd, since the package arrived unannounced from the Dept of Treasury.
We of course opened it immediately to explore further, and that’s when all the more useful contents began disappearing.
I have no clue where the remaining kit remnants are today - stuffed away in the back of some random filing cabinet somewhere, I suppose. Or someone just took the whole thing home. Who knows.
Thanks Obama!
random thoughts from a small time banker…
1.) like JSA, I can’t for the life of figure out why. I have to send this to our Examiner in Charge to see what’s up.
2.) there is no way they are getting this done for $200,000. I think they forgot a $0 on the end.
3.) I can’t wait for the OCC exam team to walk into my bank kitted out with their fanny packs and want to be taken seriously.
Clearly a joke. All banks have business continuity plans which cover emergency situations and any FRB or OCC employees on site would be covered by that plan.
