Superseal/superfrog

anyone there or know the results so far?? maybe live action update every so often… how is rappstar doing? or any other pro

Nothing from anyone at the race there yet?? Bjorn is on a realy that includes some Kenyan runner, apparently there is some$$ for the winning relay…And jordan should be done by now too I would think…

I haven’t heard from Bjorn yet. Anyone else on site?

I didn’t stick around for long after the race. I did talk to Jorden though, he won the Olympic in something like 1:55. I believe that Chris McDonald won the half in 3:55 and Luke Bell was second but that is unconfirmed. Not sure what happened in the relays.

Who is Team SBR, is that Bjorn’s team? I heard that their swimmer went off in wave 1 and relays were supposed to go off in the last wave. They caught him at the mid point of the swim (2 lap swim with a beach turn around) and stopped him. I guess he got a good warm up in

Dont think that was Bjorn’s team, he had a female swimmer, at least that was the plan…

Yeah, female swimmer 3rd out of water with Sean and Felipe just ahead of her (both of those guys were in relays so she went off with correct group). Bjorn and the Kenyan on her team dominated to win the $1K for their team. Felipe’s team, Breakaway Training - really strong - got 3rd, so maybe that SBR group was second? Strong relays…
Jordan won Seal for sure. McDonald won half and Luke Bell got 2nd elite, 3rd overall, with 4:15ish and was icing his quad/knee and limping. Hope he’s okay after last year’s surgery…really hope for a good year for Bell.
There were still a lot of frog runners out when I left so I’m sure they won’t post results for awhile.

Here is the link for when results do get posted…

never mind - spoke out of turn re: Bell. “slight strain of VMO” from his blog. sounds minor and he probably pulled up and took it easy for next week’s oceanside race. no doubt something like that would suck running on soft sand.

Just got settled down after sticking around for a little bit of the awards. Cool temps but a great day!

Darn pros have to steal all the fun from the age groupers

If anyone else did Seal…was the swim short?

NOOOO!!! My new PR was not based on a short course ; ).

HAHAHA…my fingers are crossed too man. My friend said I was first guy out of the water in my wave but I have a hard time believing I did a sub 21 minute swim haha. That would CRUSH my previous times and take about 4 mins off last year.

Than again I heard last year was long so who knows.

Regardless, fun race and a good day. Congrats on the PR…we’ll say the course was legit!

Just finished a big frozen pepperoni pizza and a Coke and have a quick minute to chime in, but on my 3rd bike lap I saw the Kenyan runner all alone out front on the run over on the beach, so no surprise that they kicked ass. Cool, cloudy day with some SW to W wind for pretty much the entire bike. Just enough to be an annoyance. The run had a new loop on it with about 1/8 mile of soft sand after going onto the Base at the south end of the run. Plus, the tide was high, so running along the beach meant a lot of dodging the water.
Saw one or two ST’ers but missed all you guys and never saw the Demerley’s. Guess they didn’t make it out for this race after all.

Yeah, I did 22:??, so that’s about 1:30’s which I can hold in the pool but it’s TOUGH. I think turns are a big part of that as I’m terrible off the wall. However, I feel like I really swam straight and, of course, had the wetsuit on, so maybe…Close anyway. At least they got the run correct this year. Fun day for sure.

Looks like Lars Finanger aka Camelboy had the second fastest individual time overall. Congrats Lars.

Also, not sure who all Mixed Team Finanger is, but they kicked ass too.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I can say with absolute certainty that the swim was short. I swam just over 20 min which translates to a 25:xx 1/2 iron swim time which I’ve never come close to. I’m consistently a 29 min swimmer for 70.3. On a positive note, the run is long, and is described (correctly) as 6.56 miles on course description on the website. May not sound like much but it adds about 2 1/2 min overall to a 7 min/mile runner.

Mixed Team Finanger was Bjorn’s relay team. Emily F. was their swimmer. A most uneventful drive back. People get out of your way big time when you are driving the King of Sweden around…

And yes, the Superseal swim was short.

Fantastic race. I would highly recommend it. The Superseal is one of the best Olympics I’ve done. A fun, fast course. They are thinking about moving Superfrog to October in an effort to get more people as competing with Oceanside is tough for them. This was a great race and while much less “show” than Oceanside, I think it certainly deserves to be on people’s short lists. It also supports a great cause. Many veterans out there. Several challenged competitors who I am fairly certain we ex-SeALs; I felt quite priveleged to be racing with folks like that.

PS: the awards are also pretty much the most badass things ever. They are little detonator boxes (think Wyle E. Coyote acme push-down-go-boom boxes). I also was lucky enough to get probably the most beautiful trophy I’ve ever received - this paddle with a beautiful linen wrapped handle. Quite stunning.

That was Bjorn’s team, and they won overall. Bjorn rode a 1:59 for the 56, and he said it was pretty flat, but exposed to some good wind. So not a bad effort going into next weeks race in Oceanside…And he said Jordan did about a 1:51 or so. GOod time for an olympic, but if the swim was short, have to adjust the overall…Bot boys brought home paychecks, so that is the important thing…Good job guys…

I would love to see this go back to Sept/Oct. It does not seem reasonable to attempt to compete against the IM name brand. I have done both and would like to see SuperFrog survive.
