Super Oatmeal

SHAZZZZZZZAM!!!

I do something close to that every day … steel cut oatmeal, soy milk, ground flax seed and cinnamon with maple syrup. Maybe I’ll add some other stuff, but I call foul on the raisins. I’m not a fan.

Thats good stuff…

My daily breakfast

1 cup oatmeal
1cup frozen berries
1 scoop (20g) protein
lots of honey

a swig of cod liver oil (NOT in the oatmeal)

Good stuff!!

I do the fishoil, too. Right … not in the oatmeal. yuk.

That’s one good start for the day. Give you alot of credit. Most people don’t eat healthy starting their day off.

ha…its all downhill from there!

my version is real basic.

the oatmeal is made with skim milk instead of water and a pinch of salt.

then instead of normal sweetner on top…a little drizzle of apple cinnamon Carb Boom.

Only a triathlete would put a GEL in oatmeal, you goose.

Mine’s basic-er… 1/2c oats, 1c water, microwave for 4 min, then mix in another 1/2c of raw oats (I like the difference in texture). I like bland

2/3 cup of oats, scoop of peanut or almond butter, half a banana, blueberries if we have them and raisins…fishoil pill post meal…

I have definitely gotten the geeky endurance athlete (it was pre-tri for me, so I cannot rightfully refer to it a a tri-geek thing, although it foreshadowed my trip into tri-geekdom) award from my runner buddies for putting Hammer Gel on Pancakes as a pre race breakfast.

I know there are more of you out there…

There was a “super-oatmeal” thread a couple of years ago. One poster mixes eggs in his oats. I think you can mic whatever you want in there and it will probably be alright.

Bernie

Mine:

Steelcut oats
Water
Soy Protein powder
Flax
Peanut butter. I have a couple styles of PB I use. One is a cinnamon raisin and the other has honey in it.
If I have fresh blueberries in the house those go in too.
Honey on top or brown sugar

Stick it in the microwave, done!

Soooo yummy. In fact, I’m going to make some now!

No.

The only acceptable topping for pancakes is Maine maple syrup.

The only acceptable topping for pancakes is Canadian maple syrup.

Fixed it for you TC.

Big bowl mash up 1 banana with vanilla whey protein and cup of raw oats. Sometimes add almond butter or ‘Better n’ Peanut Butter’- love that stuff, kind of a low fat version of nutella.

*The only acceptable topping for pancakes is **New Hampshire *maple syrup.

Fixed it for both of you, TC and CC.

my breakfast of champions:
half bowl honey oat flakes
half bowl bran flakes
handful of almonds choppped but not too small
flax seed ground with rollingpin
and the key ingriedient a small handful of Ghiradelli 60% cacao chocolate chips.
some cold milk on that and I"m ready to go.

I have to agree here. It always plays second fiddle to Vermont’s, but it *is *the superior product.

(P.S. I can’t believe I just spent four and a half minutes watching a guy make oatmeal.)

Sounds good. What brand of peanut butter do you use and the brand of oats? Thanks!

I get my peanut butter from Peanut Butter & Co out of New York City. They also have a Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate that is fantastic.

Any plain oats will work. I use a local brand.
