Jefferson EAST into US Steel facility at Zug Island. Through steel mill area to downtown Detroit. Through downtown Detroit out to Lake St. Clair. Turnaround at Lake St. Clair at approx 25-30 miles and back.
I am coming to town this weekend. I was supposed to pick up new new steed from you, but Mike told me earlier this week not to expect it. But maybe I will bring my road bike and join you for the ride. I trust the distance out is 25-30 miles and that you are not referring to the speed at which you will be traveling.
Tri bikes are good. Likely (depending on wind) we will just be cruising around 18 mph. Easyish ride. going through the steel mill is the best part, and by Zug Island. It is like leaving the planet and riding through the set of a “Mad Max” movie.
We mix it up. When you come back into town we will prepare a ecclectic menu of intersting and amusing rides for your pleasure, including the highly controversial “El Supermercado” ride.
A nice fella from Norway called and is flying in for a fitting. Thank you for the reference.
Uh oh. Late breaking development: now there is talk of another epic out to the race in Ann Arbor, doing the race, and then returning to the store. 100-120 miles with a race in between. Hmmm.
Man. I don’t think I can hang with that just yet. The first ride sounds fine. Please post as soon as you know 'cause I packed my bike for the trip over to the east side and was planning on showing up. I even put my bike in the truck, as opposed to on the hitch carrier with my son’s bike. My wife is gonna be pissed when she finds out the bike is in the vehicle.
I look forward to riding with you guys again, as long as I don’t get spat out the back! Glad you spoke to Jostein he is riding an ill fitting Principia and needs to get onto a bike that fits him properly. Also, he raced Western Oz last year (and is the guy that wrote the report I sent you) so will be happy to give you some intel on the race and area.
I know he has been working on some bike info for you. We’ve been pretty slammed lately with business and bike deliveries. The earliest I am getting out of here is midnight to be back in at about 6:00-6:30 Am to ride a couple hours then work.
He mentioned yyou were interested in an R2.5, that I am aware of, that will involve an undetermined wait. If the fit is similar we have been switching people onto Look 585’s. Aderhold has one. It is a trifle stiffer side to side, a little lighter than my R2.5 and strikes me as the “next generation” version of the R2.5.
Mike will be in this morning so I will ask him about it. We have 12 fit appointments today…
Good reasons. I am not 100% certain the R2.5 will exist anymore. Gerard and company haven’t said anything to the effect- this is a total guess- but it is becoming a dated design (strictly from a “newness” factor).
I absolutely LOVE mine and won’t trade it for the world. The only thing I might replace it with is a Soloist or a Luquigas Bianchi bike since I like aluminum. But it is a great bike.
You have me a little concerned there. Do you mean that the last of the frames may have been already produced, or simply that they may soon becoming to the end of production? I hope the latter of the two.
